Discuss the current recommended management of babies at this gestation with RDS, including observations.

Please discuss the following:

  • The normal anatomical and physiological changes that occur for the FETUS in pregnancy at the gestation of the case
  • The usual management, both medical and nursing, of the condition recommended by the literature including journal articles, textbooks, hospital policies and clinical guidelines
  • Provide a critique of TWO recent research studies outlining current practice in relation to the management of such cases
  • Discuss any relevant assessments, examinations, investigations and other procedures that would usually be undertaken for this case scenario.
  • Make use of relevant, professional reference material throughout the assignment to provide evidence in support of your discussion on the topic of choice. NB: non-credible web references will not be accepted as appropriate, professional resources
  • Present your work in the usual written assessment format as outlined in the marking guide.

Please: Complete the additional requirements for the case study as follows:

Paediatric Case Study

James is born prematurely at 32 weeks by caesarean section. Following his  mother Katelyn experiencing an antepartum haemorrhage. James weighed 2.1kgs and had Apgars of 6 at 1 minute and 7 at 10 minutes. He  showed obvious signs of respiratory distress at birth. He was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with Jason his father.

1)            Outline the common respiratory conditions experienced by newborns.

2)            Using the previous instructions: define and describe the condition Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS)

3)            Outline the predisposing factors for this condition.

4)            Describe the presenting signs and symptoms and the underlying pathophysiology.

5)            Discuss the current recommended management of babies at this gestation with RDS, including observations.

6)            Outline the possible complications and outcomes related to this case scenario.

Explain the pathophysiology of the type of anemia that you diagnosed, as well as potential treatment options. Include causes for this type of anemia.

In clinical settings, patients often present with many different types of anemia. Each type of anemia has its own causes and implications. For this reason, you must be able to differentiate between types of anemia as well as identify factors that put patients at greater risk of experiencing related complications. As you prepare for this Discussion, consider the following patient case studies:
A 78-year-old female presents to the emergency room after a fall 3 days ago. She recently had a right above-the-knee amputation and was leaning over to pick something up when she fell. She did not want to come to the hospital, but she is having difficulty managing at home because of the pain in her left leg where she fell. Her patient medical history reveals RAKA, peripheral vascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, and stage 3 chronic kidney disease. Current medications include quinapril 20 milligrams PO daily, Lantus 30 units at bedtime, and Humalog to scale before meals. There are no known drug allergies. The physical exam is negative and x-rays reveal no acute injuries. Laboratory studies reveal a normal white blood cell count: Hgb of 8 and HCT 24. The MCV is normal.
an explanation of the differential diagnosis for the patient in the case study that you selected. Describe the role the patient history, physical exam, and lab reports played in the diagnosis. Finally, explain the pathophysiology of the type of anemia that you diagnosed, as well as potential treatment options. Include causes for this type of anemia.

Part I: Pamphlet

Develop a pamphlet to inform parents and caregivers about environmental factors that can affect the health of infants.

Use the “Pamphlet Template” document to help you create your pamphlet. Include the following:

Select an environmental factor that poses a threat to the health or safety of infants.

Explain how the environmental factor you selected can potentially affect the health or safety of infants.

Offer recommendations on accident prevention and safety promotion as they relate to the selected environmental factor and the health or safety of infants.

Offer examples, interventions, and suggestions from evidence-based research. A minimum of three scholarly resources are required.

Provide readers with two community resources, a national resource, and a Web-based resource. Include a brief description and contact information for each resource.

In developing your pamphlet, take into consideration the healthcare literacy level of your target audience.

Part II: Pamphlet Sharing Experience

Share the pamphlet you have developed with a parent of an infant child. The parent may be a person from your neighborhood, a parent of an infant from a child-care center in your community, or a parent from another organization, such as a church group with which you have an affiliation.

Provide a written summary of the teaching / learning interaction. Include in your summary:

Demographical information of the parent and child (age, gender, ethnicity, educational level).

Description of parent response to teaching.

Assessment of parent understanding.

Your impressions of the experience; what went well, what can be improved.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines,

complete a web-based program called CITI.

Part I. For this assignment, complete a web-based program called CITI.

All individuals planning to conduct research must complete a web-based program called CITI, a Course in the Protection of Human Research Subjects. The course may require 4-6 hours to complete but does not have to be conducted in one session. You will be completing required modules for the Social and Behavioral Sciences; note that there are optional modules and there are modules you may complete for Biomedical Research.

The IRB may require additional modules if needed for your research investigation.

If you have successfully completed CITI in a previous course, you may submit the earlier certificate of completion.

Part I:

When you complete the course, you will see a screen containing your certificate of completion. Save this page. Then upload the saved file to your Mentor as the first part of this Activity.

Part II:

Consider any ethical concerns for your intended research topic, review the IRB Application, and send a brief written description of any ethical concerns as the second part of this Activity. (Research Topic: Investigate if it’s useful or not to appoint female coaches to male teams. What problems may appear?) I am pro women!!

Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages.

References: Minimum of 3-5 scholarly resources.

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your paper should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Review APA Form and Style.
