Habitat fragmentation relates to biodiversity loss primarily through habitat destruction and its implications.
Habitat fragmentation requires some degree of habitat destruction. Although habitat fragmentation certainly differs from total habitat destruction there is effectively less land for biodiversity to thrive after a habitat has been fragmented. This results in since there is less of a habitat for organisms to thrive in.
After habitats are fragmented each fragment of the once continuous habitat can only support a fraction of the population that the whole habitat could. Often especially when species are incapable of crossing whatever obstacle fragmented the habitat this lower carrying capacity causes many organisms to die as the fragmented habitat transitions into its reduced carrying capacity.
Additionally when populations are thus isolated and reduced the lack of genetic diversity makes these populations more vulnerable to disease. Consequently habitat fragmentation leads to a reduction in biodiversity.

When developing each idea, think about all of the elements of the space. For example materials, wall and floor finishes, furniture, accessories, fabrics, etc.
1 These will be your first thoughts and will form the basis of design ideas. Consider how the initial idea could be developed to form the clients interior design scheme. Refer to course notes for guidance on inspirational ideas and how to develop a concept using a client brief. Use inspirational images in your report to help you develop your ideas. A design concept is an idea that informs the look of the whole space. This is not a final scheme, and will develop as your design progresses.

With the design brief in mind, develop ONE inspirational idea from Assignment A.
Produce an A3 concept board to show your chosen inspirational idea and how this will be developed into a design scheme.
Include an explanation of how you have developed this idea thinking about the elements of the space indicating why it is the most appropriate choice.
NB Your chosen idea will be developed into a final scheme as you progress through the course.

The concept board may include images if existing interiors, fabric swatches, colour palettes, wall coverings, images of furniture and accessories, etc.

Writing Assignment (Part 3): Investigate a Social Issue Draft
Due Week 8 and worth 120 points

Working from the outline and from the feedback of your professor, you will now develop a draft paper in which you formally write up your findings. Specifically, you will submit a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you address all of the following:

Specific Hypothesis. Introduce your paper by identifying the specific hypothesis you are evaluating in this paper.
Applicable Sociological Concepts. Identify the sociological theories and terminology from the text that apply to your social issue
Practical Implications. Discuss the value of sociological research into your issue. Determine whether or not there are (or would be) practical implications of sociological inquiry into this issue.
Evidence. This is the most important part of the paper. Analyze at least two (2) lines of evidence that pertain to the hypothesis you are evaluating. Does the evidence support your hypothesis? For each type of evidence, consider possible biases and alternative interpretations.
Conclusions. Draw conclusions based on the evidence that you have discovered. Does the evidence confirm or refute your hypothesis? Is the evidence sufficiently convincing to draw firm conclusions about your hypothesis?
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

· Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
