Describe an example of a joke that a Freudian might call “tendentious,” as well as one that would not be considered tendentious.

Describe an example of a joke that a Freudian might call “tendentious,” as well as one that would not be considered tendentious. Be sure to explain your reasoning. If you do not know any jokes, ask around or consult a joke book or the internet. No ethnic jokes, please.

2. Discuss the reasons why, according to Freud, tendentious jokes are generally perceived to be funnier than non-tendentious jokes. Of the two jokes that you described for question #1, is the tendentious joke the funnier of the two (in your opinion)? (You do not necessarily need to agree with Freud here, just be sure to explain your reasons as fully as possible.)
3. It is suggested that humor can be used to make therapy more effective. Briefly describe how one might design an experiment to test this assertion. You may want to refresh your memory on the different types of experiments which can be used.

(The attached file is a very brief idea of what I look for in terms of the structure of the paper and whatever is written can be used as a part of the essay)

Sigmund Freud’s was revolutionary in his theories on the human mind and the different contributing regions it contains. Freud believed that the desires and impulses stored in the unconscious section of our mind becomes apparent in certain situation, sometimes unintentionally. Freud is also widely known for researching the repressed urges and impulses of our unconscious, mainly focusing on aggressive and sexual urges and how they present themselves in our daily lives. One of his theories relating to the unconscious is that aggressive and sexually themed jokes are a way for us to satisfy these aggressive impulses that are stored in the unconscious.

tendentious joke is “”

involves a victim, someone whose expense we laugh at (hostile, obscene, cynical)

non-tendentious joke is “”

reasons why tendentious are funnier..

Not surprisingly, most people find tendentious jokes funnier because..

which joke is funnier in my opinion..

In my personal opinion, tendentious jokes are not at all funny specifically because they focus on putting someone down in order to have an effectively funny punchline.

Humor makes therapy more effective, test by observing the response of a distressed or sad individual as you try to make them laugh or happy

What are the main categories of mental illness that can be treated by pharmaceuticals?

You are the Director of Mental Health Halfway House which deals drug addicts with brain disorders that have found their way into the criminal justice system. The patients in this program were diverted from incarceration into prison because a clear link was established between the drug offenses they committed and their mental illness. Mental illness is often a reason for the individual to turn to substance abuse. The majority of your inmate/patient population requires medication to maintain a semblance of social function and to be allowed to leave the facility to work and see family members. You must continually evaluate the participants of the program utilizing the Axis criteria and the patient evaluation from the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) Scale (DSM-IV, 1994, p. 32). The GAF is broken into ten groups from 0 to 100. A person in the category from 91-100 would be perfect mentally. This is not normally found with anyone. The person found in the category of 0-10 which is the opposite would be a persistant danger to everyone around them including themselves. They would be completely dysfunctional socially and unable to work. As the director you are required to use the GAF to monthy evaluate the ability of your charges to remain in the program.

The persons in this program must have successfully completed detoxification for the drugs they were abusing.

In addition to your required evaluations you have a pharmacy on site. The pharmacy issues and requires the participants to take the medication in front of health service professionals so that the medication prescribed is actually being used and not sold or thrown away.

For participants suffering from schizophrenia the drugs used are classed as antipsychotic drugs.

For those being treated for depression; antidepressants are used also known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

A common illness amongst inmates is Bi-polar Disorder. This is treated with mood stabilizers which were originally developed to treat convulsions. For Bi-polar Disorder antipsychotic and antidepressants may also be used.

Anxiety disorders are also common mental health concerns with inmate/patients. These include many commonly known mental health problems like; Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), Panic disorder, and Social phobia. For treatment of such disorders the most common drugs are antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and beta-blockers.

In a 10 page position paper the student will write up the problem they observed in the scenario. They will answer the questions below. It is critical that when you make a statement of fact in your presentation that you cite the reference you obtained the information from in the text of the paper and that the reference is included in your reference page. As always your paper will be submitted in the APA format current edition. No abstract is required as this is a short position paper but a title page, reference page, and appropriate running header with page numbers are necessary. What level of inmate patient are you prepared to take into the program based on the five Axis of the DSM-IV and the associated GAF criteria for identifying function? Justify your reasoning.

  • What are the main categories of mental illness that can be treated by pharmaceuticals?
  • By category of illness what corresponding type of drug should or could be prescribed to treat those illnesses?
  • What are the side effects of the drugs you indicated in your report?
  • How do you plan to convince the participants that they must maintain their drug treatment after they leave the program you are in charge of?
  • How will these treatments allow the patient/inmate to reintegrate into family, social setting, work setting, and keep them from re-offending?
  • What are the associated dangers of putting a person in a drug therapy program where they had previous chemical addictions?

Designing an ICT Strategy using the Balanced Scorecard

Title: Designing an ICT Strategy using the Balanced Scorecard

The Tasks

Your assignment team, comprising four students, is a consultancy group who has already investigated the business of HealthyGlow Natural Health Products (HGNHP), producing a feasibility report.  Some information about HGNHP, and the feasibility report, is contained in the attached case study.

The next decision you need to make concerns the appropriate strategic decisions extracted from the research your group has conducted in the weekly tutorials for the various requirements you have identified in and around the case study.  It is these decisions and application of them in The Balanced Scorecard that are the subject of this assignment.

(A)          As individuals within your team you must agree the assignment of an individual BSC perspective.

  1. The objective of your individual research will be to produce a report on how your allocated “perspectives” may embrace the emerging technologies core to the module (as discussed on a weekly basis), including their strengths and weaknesses.
  2. Your research must also identify two examples of the technologies in practice.
  3. One example should be of “good practice” where it has been used appropriately and successfully and the other example should be of “useful but not successful practice” where it has been used inappropriately and or unsuccessfully.  Your conclusion should highlight lessons to be learnt from your examples.
  • The report in this section of the assignment should be at least 1500 words per person, and it should be clearly identified with the name of the author.
  • All research will be appropriately referenced in accordance with the Harvard Referencing System.

(B)          The complete team should now produce a report of at least 2000 words, developing a strategy for HealthyGlow, using the Balanced Scorecard.

(C)         A first stage iteration for HealthyGlow.

(D)          A personal module reflection to include and sum up your understanding of the whole module.

(E)          Your development and progress (your learning journey).

Marking

The table below indicates the marking from the perspective of an individual student.  The report submitted will Group and Individual contributions under (A-E)
