What behaviors contribute to the development and maintenance of each of these boundaries?

Latisha and Earl have been dating for almost a year. But Latisha is having second thoughts about the relationship. For some time she has been feeling that she is taking more responsibility than Earl in keeping the relationship going. Whenever Earl has a hangover from partying too much the night before, she always calls in sick for him or runs to the store to get what he wants. He treats her poorly most of the time, yet she still is reluctant to get out of this relationship.

If Latisha asked your opinion of why she is so emotionally “connected” to Earl, what would you tell her on the basis of what you have learned about emotional dependency and family relationships?

Assignment 2b Communication within Families

Three 17 year old high school students are planning on going to an 8pm movie together on a Friday night.

Sally has no curfew, so she didn’t think going to the movies would be a problem. Sally asked her mother on Tuesday if she could go and her mother said “yes.” When Friday arrived, her mother told Sally that she couldn’t go to the movies anymore, it was too late for her to go out, and she needed to stay home. Her mother then left to go to the bar, and Sally was left to feed and care for her younger brother.

Mary asked her father if she could go to the movies. He responded that as her curfew was 9pm she was not allowed to go to the movies. Mary did not want to question her father’s decision, so she kept quiet, even though it was the weekend, and she had no responsibilities on Saturday morning. Mary asked her mother if she would try to talk to her father to convince him to lift the curfew for one night, but her mother refused to do so.

Sam asked his parents if he could go to the movies. His parents stated that while normally his curfew was 9pm, it was a weekend night and he had no plans early in the morning on Saturday. Sam’s parents decided that as long as his homework and chores were finished, he could have an extension on his curfew for the evening, and could go to the movies. On Friday afternoon, Sam completed his homework and chores, and left to see the movie, with the promise to call his parents if the movie got out later than 10pm.

Media reaction paper

https://www.facebook.com/thefilmhut1/videos/393597467677551/?v=393597467677551- Link to the movie Sarafina which is the media source for this project.

Attached are class lecture notes to be correlated with the paper.

Posted lectures reference:

Reali, C. (2019). Race and Ethnicity. Lecture notes from Chapter 14. SOCY 3720-E01 Global Perspectives on Social. Issues, UCD Summer 2019.

Acceptable media sources for this project are:
1) A book* (fiction or non-fiction), with a central theme or story strongly related to the course.
2) An article, online or printed, from an academic journal, newspaper, magazine, website, etc.
3) A documentary* dealing with any of the central or specific notions covered in class throughout the semester. (You cannot use the ones watched in class).
4) A movie* of your choosing as long as it strongly relates/discusses/deals with/pertains to any notions covered in class.

For your media reaction project, less than 2 ½ pages (of actual content) earns you an automatic failing grade and 2 ½ – 2 ¾ pages long of content equals a significant grade penalty.

I will be grading your media reaction project on the following specific aspects:
1- The choosing of ONE main external source. (Any other sources are optional)
2- A solid, clear, and productive synopsis and/or explanation of your source. What is it, what is it about, main theme(s), why you   chose it, how does it fit your project? (I recommend you dedicate, at least, one page of your work to this section)
3- A solid, clear, pertinent, relevant and well-established course material correlation. BE VERY SPECIFIC. I expect you to go beyond just saying which unit, section, or lecture your source correlates to. Explain your correlation in great detail. I also suggest you correlate your source to one main aspect of course material, shy away from having multiple correlations that can, and more than likely will, dilute the strength of this important requirement. (I also highly recommend you dedicate, at least, one page of your work to this section)
4- I will expect personal insight inclusion along with your reactions to your chosen source, its meaningfulness, your chosen course material correlation, and equally important, the social meaning of your project. (I, once again, suggest that you dedicate one page of your work to this section).

Please remember that your media reaction project must follow these requirements:

You will need to include actual class material from your required posted lectures, directly quoted or paraphrased along with their corresponding in-text citations, within your project. It is a major requirement. Then, as usual, your choice of a required second internal source.

  • Your project needs to be 3 – 5 pages of actual content. (If beyond 5 pages, no problem and no penalty)
  • Double spaced. One-inch margins all around. No exceptions.
  • Times New Roman font type and no bigger than 12 size font. No exceptions.
  • Your work should follow APA, or MLA, or Chicago Style writing style guidelines.
  • The inclusion and detailed discussion of actual class material is required for this work.
  • You need to capitalize all racial and ethnic groups, as well as any sexual minorities.
  • No use of contractions is allowed.
  • Include your name, a header, page numbers, and a main academic title. A bibliography or “works cited” page is required, unless if using footnotes.
  • A title page is optional and your bibliography and title page do not count as part of your length requirement nor any introductory information (i.e., name, course, main academic title, etc.)

Compare and contrast the two diagnoses and then select one that you consider the most appropriate DSM diagnosis. Explain why one is more likely than the other.

Select one of the above vignettes and analyze it by completing the following:

  • Identify and describe two possible emotional disorders one might consider as DSM diagnoses for this child or adolescent. Make sure you support those choices with specific symptoms observed in the vignette.
  • Compare and contrast the two diagnoses and then select one that you consider the most appropriate DSM diagnosis. Explain why one is more likely than the other.
  • After reviewing recent research studies, readings in your textbook, and other academic sources, provide a thorough description of the following:
  • The symptoms required for a diagnosis of that disorder
  • At least two possible causes of that disorder, incorporating at least one developmental factor and at least one multicultural factor that may be involved in the cause(s) of the disorder
  • At least three of the most effective treatments available for that disorder
  • At least one controversy, cultural bias, or ethical issue related to the diagnosis or treatment of that disorder
  • Ethical issues related to the use of psychiatric medications, like antidepressants, to treat emotional disorders in children and adolescents.

Write an 8–10-page paper in Word format. Add an APA style title page and references page and cite your sources according to current APA standards. Cite information from at least two academic sources to support your ideas. These include your textbook, and two peer-reviewed research articles from the AUO library.
