Consider the following prompts and write a response to one of them — based on your own experience with the applicable concept:

(Chapter 8) How often are you deferential, assertive, and aggressive in your communication? What are the situations and relationships in which each kind of behavior is most likely for you? Do the behaviors you select advance your own goals and your relationships?

(Chapter 9) Have you ever been in a relationship in which conflict was stifled? Using the concepts you learned in this chapter, can you now describe how the conflict was repressed? Can you now think of ways you might have engaged in more effective conflict communication in that relationship?

Acceptable Length:

This essay should be at least 300-350 words and be made up of clear introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs.

Step 1: Please watch the following Ted Talk that examines the cumulative statistical frequency of everyday occurrences: Transforming Statistics into Art.

Step 2: Identify an occurrence of your choosing. The occurrence you identify should be compelling to you. It can be one discussed in the Ted Talk, or you can select one of your own. Please avoid selecting an occurrence that is potentially offensive to others; instead, choose an occurrence that either concerns you or peaks your curiosity. Examples of occurrences may be the prevalence of marijuana use among high school students in the U.S., or the comparison of the prevalence of sleep deprivation among college students in Japan and the United States.

Step 3: Conduct web research to gather at least *two* credible sources that identify the statistics and impact on the community associated with the occurrence you selected. The statistics can report prevalence in a particular U.S. state, the U.S., or any other country or region. The impact of the occurrence should be relevant to the people and/or region you identified. Use APA style in-text citations in your post. At the end of your post, compose APA style citations for your sources.

• Compose APA style citations for the two (or more) sources you used for your post.
