The Consensus Model and the Role of the Advanced Practice Nurse

Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to assist you in understanding the specific parameters of each advanced practice role. Understanding how your role is defined by the consensus model will assist you in working within your scope of practice.
Directions:
Compare and contrast each of the population focused roles authorized by the nurse practice act in the state in which you live. What are the barriers to practice in your state for each one of the roles?

Review content in the Hamric textbook that refers to the proposed new Regulatory Model for APRNs. Go to the Internet to review the full text of the Consensus Model. Review regulations imposed by your state board of nursing. How will the new model improve practice parameters and patient safety in your state?

Explore the culture and climate of your current organization or one with which you are familiar.

As you strive to grow in your leadership skills and abilities, you will find that the context in which you work influences your motivation and areas of focus. In a similar vein, your commitment to developing professionally can contribute toward organizational effectiveness.
To that end, it is critical to recognize the importance of organizational culture and climate. In particular, through this week’s Learning Resources, you may consider several questions: How do an organization’s mission, vision, and values relate to its culture? What is the difference between culture and climate? Moreover, how are culture and climate manifested within the organization?
For this Discussion, you explore the culture and climate of your current organization or one with which you are familiar. You also consider decisions and day-to-day practices and the way they relate to the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
To prepare:
• Review the information related to planning and decision making in health care organizations presented in the textbook, Leadership Roles and Management Functions in Nursing: Theory and Application. Consider how planning and decision making relate to an organization’s mission, vision, and values, as well as its culture and its climate.
• Familiarize yourself with the mission, vision, and values of your organization or one with which you are familiar. Consider how the statements and actions of leaders and others within the organization support or demonstrate the organizational mission, vision, and values. In addition, note any apparent discrepancies between word and deed. Think about how this translates into expectations for direct service providers. Note any data or artifacts that seem to indicate whether behaviors within the organization are congruent with its mission, vision, and values.
• Begin to examine and reflect on the culture and climate of the organization. How do culture and climate differ?
• Why is it important for you, as a master’s-prepared nurse leader, to be cognizant of these matters?

Formulate a preliminary PICO question—one that is answerable—based on your analysis. What are the PICO variables (patient/population, intervention/issue, comparison, and outcome) for this question?

Course Project: Introduction to Course Project
Evidence-based practice involves a great deal more than simply reading nursing periodicals on a regular basis. Nurses can take a more proactive approach to evidence-based practice by identifying authentic problems and concerns, and then using that to guide their inquiries into current research. In this way, nurses can connect the results of relevant research studies to their nursing practice.
For the Course Project, you identify and apply relevant research to a specific nursing topic or problem. You begin by formulating an answerable question that is relevant to nursing and evidence-based practice. In later weeks of this course, you continue the Course Project by conducting a literature review and then determining how the evidence from the literature can be applied to nursing practice.
Before you begin, review the Course Project Overview document located in this week’s Learning Resources.
Note: This Course Project will serve as the Portfolio Assignment for the course. In addition to submitting portions of this Project in Weeks 2 and 5, you will turn in all three deliverables in Week 10.
Course Project: Part 1—Identifying a Researchable Problem

Formulating a question that targets the goal of your research is a challenging but essential task. The question plays a crucial role in all other aspects of the research, including the determination of the research design and theoretical perspective to be applied, which data will be collected, and which tools will be used for analysis. It is therefore essential to take the time to ensure that the research question addresses what you actually want to study. Doing so will increase your likelihood of obtaining meaningful results.
In this first component of the Course Project, you formulate questions to address a particular nursing issue or problem. You use the PICOT model—patient/population, intervention/issue, comparison, and outcome—outlined in the Learning Resources to design your questions.
To prepare:
• Review the article, “Formulating the Evidence Based Practice Question: A Review of the Frameworks,” found in the Learning Resources for this week. Focus on the PICOT model for guiding the development of research questions.
• Review the section beginning on page 71 of the course text, titled, “Developing and Refining Research Problems” in the course text, which focuses on analyzing the feasibility of a research problem.
• Reflect on an issue or problem that you have noticed in your nursing practice. Consider the significance of this issue or problem.
• Generate at least five questions that relate to the issue which you have identified. Use the criteria in your course text to select one question that would be most appropriate in terms of significance, feasibility, and interest. Be prepared to explain your rationale.
• Formulate a preliminary PICO question—one that is answerable—based on your analysis. What are the PICO variables (patient/population, intervention/issue, comparison, and outcome) for this question?
Note: Not all of these variables may be appropriate to every question. Be sure to analyze which are and are not relevant to your specific question.
• Using the PICOT variables that you determined for your question, develop a list of at least 10 keywords that could be used when conducting a literature search to investigate current research pertaining to the question.
To complete:
Write a 3- to 4-page paper that includes the following:
• A summary of your area of interest, an identification of the problem that you have selected, and an explanation of the significance of this problem for nursing practice
• The 5 questions you have generated and a description of how you analyzed them for feasibility
• Your preliminary PICOT question and a description of each PICOT variable relevant to your question
• At least 10 possible keywords that could be used when conducting a literature search for your PICOT question and a rationale for your selections

Identify a situation, concept, or phenomenon relevant to your interests in nursing.

Preamble: This is the second part of the paper you started earlier in the semester, and for which you received feedback from your colleagues and faculty. The major focus of this part of the paper is on describing your results. You will want to be as comprehensive as possible. Your results should address the conceptual issue you indicate in the first part. So, a reader could anticipate seeing a conclusion being offered. For example, if the purpose was to clarify the meaning of ‘body image’, then one would anticipate a better definition as a part of the results.

Directions: the concept “attitude” but my topic is parental attitude towards vaccinate their kids before school in terms of delaying it in Saudi Arabia. I attached a sample of one of the student’s paper that sent by my professor to do like that paper and she addressed on having a visual diagram

1. Identify a situation, concept, or phenomenon relevant to your interests in nursing. Describe the concept or theory of interest. You should have taken feedback from part I paper to clarify any issue with the description, so that the description is clear, thorough, and accurate

2. Describe the conceptual or theoretical problem that exists and support with appropriate literature, including the relevance of this problem for nursing. You may be able to simply keep what you wrote in Part I. However, if issues were raised, you should address them. Your argument for the existence of phenomenon and its relevance to nursing must be accurate and well supported with appropriate literature. In addition, it is important to place findings within your individual values and ontology.
