Identifying a Researchable Problem

Course Project: Part 1— Identifying a Researchable Problem

Formulating a question that targets the goal of your research is a challenging but essential task. The question plays a crucial role in all other aspects of the research, including the determination of the research design and theoretical perspective to be applied, which data will be collected, and which tools will be used for analysis. It is therefore essential to take the time to ensure that the research question addresses what you actually want to study. Doing so will increase your likelihood of obtaining meaningful results. A. In this first component of the Course Project, you formulate questions to address a particular nursing issue or problem. You use the PICOT model—patient/population, intervention/issue, comparison, and outcome—outlined in the Learning Resources to design your questions.

To prepare: 1. Review the article, “Formulating the Evidence Based Practice Question: A Review of the Frameworks,” found in the Learning Resources for this week. Focus on the PICOT model for guiding the development of research questions. 2. Review the section beginning on page 71 of the course text, titled, “Developing and Refining Research Problems” in the course text, which focuses on analyzing the feasibility of a research problem. 3. Reflect on an issue or problem that you have noticed in your nursing practice. Consider the significance of this issue or problem. 4. Generate at least five questions that relate to the issue which you have identified. Use the criteria in your course text to select one question that would be most appropriate in terms of significance, feasibility, and interest. Be prepared to explain your rationale. 5. Formulate a preliminary PICO question—one that is answerable—based on your analysis. What are the PICO variables (patient/population, intervention/issue, comparison, and outcome) for this question? Note: Not all of these variables may be appropriate to every question. Be sure to analyze which are and are not relevant to your specific question. B. Using the PICOT variables that you determined for your question, develop a list of at least 10 keywords that could be used when conducting a literature search to investigate current research pertaining to the question. To complete: Write a 3- to 4-page paper that includes the following: A. A summary of your area of interest, an identification of the problem that you have selected, and an explanation of the significance of this problem for nursing practice B. The 5 questions you have generated and a description of how you analyzed them for feasibility C. Your preliminary PICOT question and a description of each PICOT variable relevant to your question D. At least 10 possible keywords that could be used when conducting a literature search for your PICOT question and a rationale for your selections

Create a visual representation of how your selected model or theory can be or is integrated into the care of patients.

Application of theory in practice typically happens in the management of patient care. This assignment is designed to illustrate the relationship between theory and practice through the integration of care throughout the nursing process. Create a visual representation of how your selected model or theory can be or is integrated into the care of patients. Ensure your conceptual framework: • Explains the intersection of practice and societal norms for care • Articulates the benefits to those served • Guides practice, research, or education Submit your visual representation as one of the following: • Infographic • Chart • Diagram • Concept map Write a 260- to 350-word summary explaining your visual representation and consideration of the questions

Preceptorship- in relation to nursing.

Preceptorship- in relation to nursing.

A nursing graduate transitioning into the work force will face many different challenges. One such challenge is being placed with a preceptor who is limited in their willingness and ability to support learning, as well as their motivation to support the graduate nurse

Explain what a preceptor is

A brief explanation and definition of topic
Include the issues a preceptor faces

Critically analyse the 5 phases of preceptorship

Critically analyse current evidenced based literature in relation to preceptorship
What is currently happening? Why is it happening.

Discuss what makes a good nurse preceptor
Include what you can do if you are faced with challenging scenarios i.e., a preceptor not supporting you or ignoring you.

How you could approach such a challenging situations ie, being assertive and speaking up.

Write a personal reflection, expressing your thoughts about preceptorship

Conclusion should include highlighting and summarising the main issues

Does promoting excellence in healthcare reduce medical, nursing, allied health and administrative errors that harm patients?

Word limit: 1000 words

Assignment Question:
The Director of Health Services in your locality/region has asked you to prepare a report for her about the following matter:
‘Does promoting excellence in healthcare reduce medical, nursing, allied health and administrative errors that harm patients?’
The Director was keen that you formulate the report based on expert opinion from the literature and the experience of other health professionals that you have contact with.

Task:
1. Prepare a report for the Director as required in proper report format

2. Within the report you are asked to provide:
 Critical analysis of the content of the discussion
 Reflection on personal contribution to the discussion
 Critical analysis of the use of the virtual group by health professionals
 Evaluation of the process
