Explain the role of the anterior cingulate in audiovisual processing, and the symptoms of brain injury to this area.

The Stroop Effect And Visual Perception

Overview

Write a 2-part assessment that discusses your experience with the Stroop Effect and concepts related to visual perception. This assessment should be a minimum of 4 pages long.

One of the central hypotheses in psychology is the relationship between stimulus and response. Sight and language are two human abilities relevant to the hypothesis of stimulus and response. Your understanding of these two abilities will help you build up a concept of the neural basis of human behaviors interacting with the world.

Context
Recent technologies employed in the study of the brain regions regulating speech are helping scientists better understand the neural basis of human behaviors interacting with the world. For example, MRI imaging studies are revealing other areas within the brain that may also play a role in language and reading. Another example is that both Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas are fundamental to speech ability, but the specific mechanism of how each plays into oral language is still unclear. This is still a new area that challenges psychologists, neurologists, and speech therapists.
Humans use different parts of their brain to discriminate objects from people. In fact, we may have specialized neurons for recognizing faces. This relates to the main theme of this assessment: vision and visual perception. Many questions about human vision are unanswered. For example, different areas of the brain respond differently to visual recognition tasks, but how and why these areas cooperate to process visual information remains unclear. Another example: The visual cortex contains several layers, the functional roles of which are the subject of intense investigation. Questions include, “Why might the brain specialize to the point where a single neuron is dedicated to the recognition of a specific object or person?” and “What factors or cues do you think would influence how these neurons specialize and what they ultimately respond to?”

Access to Healthcare for the Vulnerable Populations

Access to Healthcare for the Vulnerable Populations

Healthcare is a fundamental need to any human being and should be accessible at any time of convenience. However, disparities in the health care industry have resulted in some groups of the population not acquiring health care services in proper time and deaths have been a consequent of this. The vulnerable population includes the economically disadvantaged, the old, racial and ethnic minorities, the elderly, the uninsured, the low income earning children just to mention a few. There are several factors that contribute to their vulnerability such as age, ethnic race, their income and even gender (Lavizzo-Maurey, 2011). Deprivation of provision o health care to the vulnerable groups affects performance in other sectors as well and therefore efforts should be streamlined to eliminate this.

The health care industry ought to lower the cost of accessing medical facilities for the vulnerable population. This is because the vulnerable are dealing with many other challenges in their lives, and low incomes are a major one. Health facilities should not be far away from their residential areas so that the vulnerable do not incur serious transport costs to access medical facilities. Another way of cutting on the cost of medical facilities is by setting policies to allow the vulnerable get medication through insurance. In most cases, insurance to the vulnerable is limited and so these needy people are subjected to expensive treatment that most of them cannot afford. Granting the vulnerable insurance will, therefore, make it easy for them to receive medication, and this will reduce deaths and improve performance in other economic sectors.

Engagement with healthy behavior change is another measure to bridge the gap of healthcare disparity. The vulnerable behavior are burdened with many psychological issues such as inadequate housing, low incomes, negligence and even access to healthy food (Jacobi, Watson, & Restuccia, 2011). Clinicians are trained to be culturally sensitive to patients and to be able to communicate with their patients in psychologically to be able to treat them effectively.  Clinicians, more than other people are well equipped with skills to counsel patients and guide them on how to live positively as this will improve their health conditions. The vulnerable should be guided on lifestyle issues and not be provided with medication only. This guidance will help improve the health condition of the vulnerable and also give them insight on how to engage in positive living for a better future.

Communication forms a foundation for solving issues in society. Studies have revealed that 90{0e601fc7fe3603dc36f9ca2f49ef4cd268b5950ef1bbcf1f795cc00e94cdd119} of the vulnerable population lacks a means of communication with their family and other people (Jacobi et al., 2011). The little they earn goes into house bills and maybe the little food they survive on. With this realization, they should be provided with free mobile phones and also trained on how to use them to make it easy for them call for help whenever need arises and to keep in touch with the care providers.

In conclusion, access to health care for the vulnerable is an issue that needs everyone’s attention in society. The vulnerable population has relatives and friends, and these people should help them access medication rather than throwing them out there to die. Sustenance from the government in the form of finances is also crucial in addressing the issue. Achievement of a healthy population translates to a wealthy population.

Identify the environmental effects of contaminants.

This assignment was given to a tutor that backed out at the last minute, leaving me in a terrible bind. I reposted this assignment only to handshake with a tutor that never delivered and has failed to communicate. This paper is now past due even if perfect will result in a 20{0e601fc7fe3603dc36f9ca2f49ef4cd268b5950ef1bbcf1f795cc00e94cdd119} deduction. Therefore it must be done well and “not plagiarized”. I do not accept plagiarized work. Please do not accept this assignment if you can not deliver.

Compare and contrast the Chronic Care Model and the Patient-Centered Medical Home Model.

Application: Utilization Management and Models of Care

Health care providers and other interested parties must continuously look for ways to manage limited resources while improving quality and promoting patient safety. Utilization management is intended to “make sure that health care is delivered in the most efficient and effective manner for the patient and the population, where such activities directly impact the quality of outcomes” (Pelberg in Varkey, p. 145). The utilization management process bridges clinical, financial, and administrative functions.

Within traditional health care settings, utilization management can have a significant impact on the delivery of services. In addition, various models of care are emerging that may help transform health care delivery to achieve the aims of utilization management and quality improvement.

To prepare for this Application:

  • Review the information on utilization management in Chapter 7 of Medical Quality Management. Also conduct additional research using the Walden library and credible Web sites (some of which are listed under Optional Resources).
  • Analyze the Chronic Care Model and the Patient-Centered Medical Home Model. How might these models be beneficial for providing care to patients, especially those with multiple medical conditions?
  • Identify the elements of each of these models, and evaluate which may be most significant for achieving quality and safety goals. Consider each of the six dimensions of quality identified by the Institute of Medicine.
  • Reflect on how these models should be structured in order to achieve the best medical outcomes for individual patients at the lowest cost to society.

The Assignment

Write a 2- pg paper that addresses the following:

  • Compare and contrast the Chronic Care Model and the Patient-Centered Medical Home Model.
  • Evaluate which elements of these models may be most significant for achieving quality and safety goals.
  • Explain how these models should be structured in order to achieve the best medical outcomes for individual patients at the lowest cost to society.
