Effective sharing of information with the public

Question description

Your initial response to each Discussion Question should be a minimum of 200 words.

Discussion Question 1

Cultural competency is an important part of public health. In order to reach our target audience, or those who need health information, we must understand the population’s unique needs. This is especially true during a disease outbreak. After reviewing the Readings for Unit 8, answer the following questions:

  1. Why is cultural competency important when addressing health problems within a specific population?
  2. Why is it important to target specific populations with health information they relate to?
  3. What are some ways to reach the target population using culturally and linguistically competent information?

You may use examples from the Unit 8 Readings. Be sure to include a list of credible references to support your response.

Discussion Question 2

This Discussion is a graded group activity. Please identify the group you are assigned to based on your last name. Each group will have a topic to discuss and will have a separate thread in which to participate. Please only work within your assigned board.

Consider the topic based on developing clinical business intelligence (CBI) assigned to your group. Then, working as a group, develop possible solutions. Each person in the group should contribute ideas, but each group should work toward a consensus for the top three ideas. One person in each group will post the top three ideas.

When possible, use a published research study to support your ideas; the Library is an excellent resource for finding examples.
