how do leadership and leadership responsibilities differ between public health leaders and managers

Question description

What does leadership mean to you? Additionally, how do leadership and leadership responsibilities differ between public health leaders and managers? The difference between public health leadership and public health management may be highlighted by the way in which each uses a systems approach in solving public health issues. Although public health leadership and public health management may use a systems approach differently, the use of a systems approach provides leaders and managers with access to more resources for solving public health problems. To illustrate this point, think of the role a system plays in preventing a pandemic outbreak and how access to additional resources may assist public health leadership effectiveness. As a result, think about how a systems thinking approach might impact your definition of public health leadership.

For this Discussion, review the Learning Resources. Consider how you define public health leadership and how your definition applies a systems thinking approach. Also, think about the differences between public health leadership and public health management. Think of an example to illustrate this difference.

Post your personal definition of public health leadership and a definition of systems thinking. Then explain how public health leadership is different from public health management. Use a specific public health example to illustrate this difference. Finally, explain how systems thinking applies to your definition of leadership.

WEEK 6 A COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM PRESENTATION ON A SPECIFIC VULNERABLE POPULATION

😀 The population that I’ve chosen are Hispanics because due to the recent immigration modifications and health care reforms most of them lost its privileges due their inability to either access or afford health care insurance.)

Your specific vulnerable population topic should have been submitted for approval to your instructor by the end of week 2 and approved/finalized by week 3.

consider why theory is important in public health practice and how you might apply theory to the development of your public health campaign

Question description

The Use of Theory

Using a theory in the development of a public health campaign is important for a variety of reasons. First, it helps to answer why and how people behave the way they do and what motivates them to change. Second, it guides you in developing a campaign by helping you understand what issues are critical to address. Third, it guides you in determining what strategies are most effective to reach multiple populations. Finally, it serves as a guide to individual behavior and it can help you determine what type of behavior change you are looking to achieve and how your public health campaign can influence that change (Glanz, Rimer & Viswanath, 2015).

For this Discussion, consider why theory is important in public health practice and how you might apply theory to the development of your public health campaign.

By Day 3, post a brief explanation of why theory is important in the practice of public health. Then explain two ways you will incorporate theory into your public health campaign and why.

Identify sources of data the community uses to assess targeted determinants of health in support of these activities

Question description

Communities have different public health issues and concerns that must be addressed. An example of a specific application might include the Rural Healthy People 2010 – Models for Practice, which is a compilation of best practices in addressing rural health concerns, as seen on the Public Health Texas A&M Health Science Center website.

Choose a geographic community and describe ongoing health activities specific to identified health concerns.

Present a 12- to 15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation that identifies a local public health issue and how it relates to nationally identified objectives by using the following criteria:

  • Identify sources of data the community uses to assess targeted determinants of health in support of these activities.
  • Describe the data collection standards used to determine population health concerns in this community, such as disease definition, specified populations, and defined time periods.
  • Describe how the data sources could be used to determine the focus of health care in the community–individual or the whole population–including implications for targeted populations.
  • Explain health care determinants that impact population health.

Reference your readings and at least 5 peer-reviewed, scholarly, or similar articles.

Include detailed speaker notes.

Format your presentation according to APA guidelines.
